never thought we would be here this soon... looking back over my life & i have both dreamed of and run away from this moment... but now that we are here...
we must roll up our sleeves and do the work we have been set apart to do. For the last three years my family & and I have prepared for this day. We have been through ups, downs, jumped through rings of fire- I nearly burned us a couple of times, but we have managed to make it here, to the Historic community of Old Fourth Ward. Our wounds are healing and now the reality of our hearts breaking for a community and city are no longer talk or a prayer, but they are real. My wife, Esther, my sons- Tyler, Jah & Zion and I are locked arms and have tunnel vision concerning the vision that God has given us to make Him famous through the way we live, love & give. To establish a church that is diverse, racially, culturally & socio-economically to name a few. We are dedicated to this vision and through hard work, lots of prayer and support trust that God will not fail. Our plan is not overly contrived or confusing, but rather simple. Be the kind of neighbor, friend, neighborhood association member, co-worker & Christian that demonstrates His love, in the way we live and give back to this community & city. Through our efforts such as, community gardens, partnering with John Hope Elementary school & continually serving this community when & where it needs it the most we are readily available to meet the needs of this community. We are just getting started and have a long way to go, but know that we will accomplish all that is laid out in front of us. This time next year, we will be even closer to the first of many live public services. In the meantime, we will be preparing, growing, learning, sharing, giving, loving, living and being the church for people who either have never seen or been to church or for those or for those just looking for the church to meet the needs of them & their family.
So, if you see us on one of our daily walks, don't be afraid to speak and strike up a conversation, we won't bite or hit you over the head with a Bible. I promise!!
If you were looking for a bio, credentials or resume you wont find that here. Honestly, if you made up your mind about us through a website then we would never have a chance to connect, to sit down one on one or to engage in a conversation over coffee to develop a relationship, now would we? What I'm saying is, let's get to really know one another, you will find that we are not that much different than one another. Try it!
